2020 Scholarship Recipients
Clarke County
Name: Jocelyn Jones
Jocelyn Jones graduated from Clarke Central High School where she was a manager/trainer for the football team for three years and played basketball for four years. Her hobbies include drawing and playing basketball. Jocelyn’s family is her motivation for attending college, and she has always known that she wanted to work in healthcare. She is currently a student at Kennesaw State University where she is studying nursing.
Elbert County
Name: Haileigh Slaton
Haileigh Slaton graduated with honors from Elbert County High School where she was a member of the Anchor Club, Friends, Helping Friends, Beta Club, and JROTC. As a member of the Anchor Club (a service organization), Haileigh was named Anchor of the Year. Her hobbies include fishing, cooking, camping, making jewelry, and helping others. Haileigh is currently a student at Truett McConnell University where she is majoring in early childhood education.
Greene County
Name: Ricquaria Griggs
Ricquaria Griggs graduated in the top ten percent of her class from Greene County High School, where she participated in the UGA Leadership Academy, DECA, and the school dance team. She was a member of the Pete Nance Boys & Girls Club where she was named Youth of the Year and later volunteered to work with younger students. Her additional volunteer work included reading to first grade students. Ricquaria’s hobbies include dancing, writing, arts and crafts, and sketching. She is a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design where she is studying fashion design.
Stephens County:
Name: Kimberly “Anike” Tendell
Anike Tendell graduated from Stephens County High School, where she participated in the Anchor Club, Beta Club, National Honors Society, Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, and Toccoa Youth Leadership. Her volunteer work included serving as a math tutor, volunteering with her local church, and working as a peer mediator for elementary school children. Anike was also named a People to People Leadership Ambassador and received the Honor Roll Award. Her hobbies include traveling, singing, photography, and dance. Anike is currently a student at Spelman College, and she is majoring in psychology.
